Make Your Teeth Dazzle with BriteSmile

BriteSmile Is One of the Leading Tooth Whitening Systems Available

With so many tooth whitening systems out there, it’s hard to know which one is the best. At Dental Clinic @ World Tower in Sydney we’ve found one of the most effective forms of tooth whitening on the market. For 4 years at Dental Clinic @ World Tower we used ZOOM! Tooth Whiting system, which was until we found out that BriteSmile is 30% more effective. So now we offer our patients the BriteSmile office whitening and our patients are loving it.

Why You Want To Get Your Teeth Whitened With Us…

Tooth whitening is arguably the most popular dental cosmetic treatment in the world. It is also probably the only dental treatment that you can buy over the counter. At Dental Clinic @ World Tower we believe that as far as your oral health goes, it is better for you to get your teeth whitened by a professional.

A dentist is able to assess the health of your smile—not just your teeth, but your gums and jaws. An over-the-counter tooth whitening kit cannot do that. It can only provide you with a bleaching gel (or strips) and instructions. There’s no way of knowing if you’ve picked the right one for you and your teeth.

This is where a dentist comes in. By visiting one of our friendly dentists, you can be sure that you’ll receive the treatment that is appropriate for your needs. Did you know that two countries have now classified teeth whitening as something that must be performed by a dentist? This decision came about when the courts decided that tooth whitening was something that fell under dentistry, and as such had to performed by a qualified dentist.

BriteSmile at Dental Clinic @ World Tower…

At Dental Clinic @ World Tower we now proudly use the BriteSmile tooth whitening system because we have found it to be a more effective tooth whitening system than ZOOM!

The BriteSmile tooth whitening system has been around for ten years and can boast over a million successful cases.

The Convenience of BriteSmile Tooth Whitening System…

The BriteSmile treatment only takes an hour to complete. The benefits of BriteSmile are:

  • Only takes an hour
  • Brighten your smile by 8 shades
  • Consistent results
  • Long-lasting
  • Minimal chance of post-whitening teeth sensitivity

Before you undergo any sort of cosmetic treatment at Dental Clinic @ World Tower one of our dentists will assess the health of your teeth and gums to ensure that they are healthy. This is done because your teeth can actually darken from the inside out—if this is the case then an alternate treatment can be arranged.

The BriteSmile Tooth Whitening System…

Once the health of your teeth and gums have been assessed, the appropriate amount of whitening gel is applied to your teeth. The BriteSmile blue light, which is used to activate the gel, is placed over your teeth and turned on. While you wait for the treatment to finish you can listen to music, watch TV or just have a rest.

Looking After Your Teeth After Treatment…

Statistically speaking, people who get their teeth whitened are more likely to look after their teeth. After all, who wants to spend money whitening their teeth only to ignore their oral health and watch their teeth slowly discolour? No one, that’s who.

However, if have a predilection for coffee, tobacco or other teeth staining drinks and you don’t visit your dentist regularly, the effect of the tooth whitening may not last long.

For more information on our amazing tooth whitening system, or to book an appointment at our conveniently located dental practice in Sydney, please do not hesitate to contact us.

It is Still the Most Feared Dental Treatment

It is the dental treatment that still scares people away from the dentist

Old stigmas die hard. This is because usually they have been around for so long, and integrate themselves with negative connotations. In this case the stigma revolves around pain and dentistry. Dentistry alone gives people enough cause for fear: thankfully with modern technology we have sedation methods that allow patients to undergo treatment with minimal discomfort.  Also, thanks to modern technology treatments are carried out more effectively and with better results.

The most feared dental treatment…

The most feared dental treatment suffers a lot of bad press, but generally the bad press is decades old or comes from horror stories of incompetent or fake dentists doing work on poor unsuspecting patients.

The dental treatment we speak of is root canal. Why? Because of what people associate with the idea of a root canal, not necessarily the actual root canal treatment as performed in modern dentistry.

Separating the myth from the reality…

Myth: a root canal is a painful treatment.

Reality: one of the aims of a root canal is to relieve pain. While ‘back in the day’ this procedure may have caused pain, these days modern medicine provides a patient with anaesthesia for a virtually painless procedure. Having said that, after the treatment there will be some sensitivity due to swollen gums. This should go away after a few days and with the help of over-the-counter anti-inflammatories.

Myth: a root canal treatment is synonymous with tooth extraction.

Reality: a root canal is in fact meant to save the original tooth. Where in conventional dental care a tooth would be extracted, a root canal is used instead to remove infected pulp and save the tooth from extraction. You see, there is nothing better than your natural tooth which is why at Dental Clinic @ World Towers in Sydney will always try to save your tooth and use extraction only as a last resort.

Modern technology…

Dentistry today is not like it was even 20 or 30 years ago. It is a constantly evolving science dedicated to making the lives of patients easier and healthier. At Dental Clinic @ World Tower we use a high-tech microscope to aid in Root Canal Therapy. It is called a RAYPEX 4 and it is a portable microcomputer controlled apex locator. The use of this technology allows us to measure the working root length to better treat our patients.

Your treatment at Dental Clinic @ World Tower…

We believe that keeping your natural tooth is the best available choice. A root canal treatment is an effective way to save your tooth and avoid extraction. There are a number of reasons why keeping your natural tooth is preferable to a dental implant. Now, while a dental implant is an effective means of replacement, keeping your natural tooth (where possible) is a much better option. The reasons a natural tooth is better include the maintenance of your bite and functionality. It is for this reason that many of our patients prefer to have their tooth saved than extracted.

After root canal therapy has been performed, you may—depending on the extent of the root canal therapy—require a crown to protect the tooth. Another myth is that a crown will mean that another root canal will be needed down the track. The reality is that a crown will protect and strengthen your tooth. Of course, we will only recommend a crown if the root canal was severe and the tooth is severely weakened afterwards.

For more information on our root canal therapy, or to book an appointment at our conveniently located dental practice in Sydney, please do not hesitate to contact us.

A better smile has been proven to improve job prospects, improve the chances of a second date and improve your overall self-esteem and dedication to dental health. That is why we are so dedicated to enhancing the treatment for the perfect smile, and with each new dental invention we are that step closer to ensuring affordable and convenient treatments for everybody’s smile.

Below are only three of our myriad of great dental innovations that we employ on a daily basis here at Dental Clinic @ World Tower.

Laser dentistry with the Waterlase MD

The Waterlase MD is the new modern treatment to replace the drill. The laser mechanism allows for completely precise drilling and improves the overall procedure by reducing pain and mouth tissue disruption. It reduces the uncomfortable feeling because it elliminates the vibration of the traditional drill. This vibration caused heat and thus resulted in an uncomfortable feeling.

Diagnodent

The Diagnodent is a revolutionary dental tool that came out of Germany’s brightest dental innovators. This tool is absolutely ground breaking as it enables the detection and diagnoses of tooth decay before your dentist or even dental x-rays can pick it up. This means that you’ll be able to treat the cavity straight away, rather than having to wait until it gets a little larger where you’ll have to put up with a larger filling. This machine also ensures the early detection of signs of periodontitis which is another name for gum disease which can detrimentally infect the mouth and result in missing teeth and even cancer cells.

Microscope enhanced dentistry

It makes sense doesn’t it? That small areas would be more visible with a microscopic viewing glass. Well that’s exactly what we do here at Dental Clinic @ World Tower – we utilise the highest greade microscopes to ensure the utmost precision with our patients. This ensure a better success rate of the installation of dental implants as well as a general better treatment experience for the patient. The machine also decreases the risks of human error caused by eyesight as our view of your mouth is enhanced substantially.

If you wish to find out more about the range of technology we offer, book an appointment by visiting us at Dental Clinic @ World Tower in Sydney or contact us here.

It’s the treatment that has scared people for a long time

Dental treatments have evolved over time so now treatments are more people-friendly

It is understandable that people are afraid of what they do not understand. And there probably was a time—decades ago—when certain dental treatments were painful and fear-inducing. However, as time has moved on medical science has improved.

Did you know?

A survey conducted in February of this year found that more people were afraid of losing their teeth than they were of the flu. This, when you think about it, does not sound surprising really. Treating the flu does not cost a thousand or more dollars, and curing the flu is fairly painless compared to losing a tooth and trying to replace it.

Losing a tooth can be detrimental to your overall health. It can lead to weakening of the jawbone, it can lead to various health issues such as; heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes. So it should come as no surprise that more people are afraid of losing a tooth than they are of getting the flu.

But the point of the survey wasn’t the numbers; it was more specific than that. The point of the survey was that while people are afraid of losing a tooth they in fact were more afraid of root canal therapy. It seems that the participants of this particular survey would rather undergo a dental implant than a root canal. But the thing is root canal therapy is no longer a painful procedure and it is a great way to save the tooth.

Natural is better than artificial…

A root canal treatment can save your tooth. The whole point of a root canal treatment is to save your tooth. At the end of the day, it is what you want, a natural tooth rather than an implant. Implants are a good solution if you have lost your teeth; they are a strong durable solution. But there is a way to avoid that treatment.

It’s not a scary treatment…

The thing to keep in mind about root canal therapy is that, thanks to modern dental science it can now be performed painlessly.

If the tooth is infected or inflamed (inflammation can be caused by tooth decay, chip or crack, extreme wear or neglect) it may require root canal therapy.
At Dental Clinic @ World Tower in Sydney, along with a small percentage of other dentists (just 3% in fact), we use a high-tech microscope to help in performing the root canal therapy. This allows us to better see the affected area and work more closely with the problem. In order for your treatment to be as painless as possible we use an aesthetic which will numb the pain in the area receiving treatment.

Every patient is different and so too are there needs. The number of treatments necessary to solve your individual needs will vary of the state of your teeth. After your root canal therapy one of our skilled dentists may recommend for the stability and continued functionality of your tooth that you get a crown placed over the tooth. The crown will ensure that the tooth stays strong and healthy.

For more information on our root canal therapy, or to book an appointment please do not hesitate to contact us.

Your wisdom teeth could be severely impacting your oral health

Are your wisdom teeth giving you grief but you do not want them out? Read on and you may change your mind…

Did you know that nine out of ten people suffer from having at least one wisdom tooth stuck under the gum line, due to insufficient space? When a tooth is only able to partially show through the periodontal (gum) tissue, this is called partial impaction. Partially impacted teeth can lead to serious problems for instance pain, infection, and the overcrowding or damage to adjacent teeth.

For teeth that are totally impacted, there is more risk of developing cysts or abscesses, which are extremely painful.

At Dental Clinic @ World Tower, we are focused on providing effective and comprehensive dental treatment, and solidly believe in educating our patients. Read on to discover why removal of wisdom teeth is imperative to your oral health…

Wisdom teeth often remain impacted…

When a wisdom tooth remains completely under the gum line, they cannot be cleaned or even functional. If left untreated, these wisdom teeth usually become infected or begin to cause damage to the surrounding teeth.
Wisdom teeth are the most difficult to get clean…

Because wisdom teeth are at the very back of the mouth, they are the most difficult teeth to keep clean. This means bacteria are more likely to accumulate on these teeth, which harden to form plaque and eat away at the enamel, resulting in tooth decay and gum disease.

They can be responsible for other issues in the body…

Periodontitis, a chronic inflammation of the gums which is very common around wisdom teeth, has been found to have a direct link to the development of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer.

Pressure exerted by emerging wisdom teeth can negatively impact surrounding teeth…

Wisdom teeth that emerge at an extreme angle or that are unaligned in the jaw can exert pressure on the adjacent teeth, which can significantly impact the alignment of your teeth.

At Dental Clinic @ World Tower in Sydney, we can safely remove your wisdom teeth to prevent any of the aforementioned conditions from occurring. However if you are adamant in keeping your wisdom teeth, we can help to keep them clean and offer non-surgical management of swollen gum tissues so you can keep your teeth and your comfort.

We endeavour to perform wisdom tooth removal as least invasively as possible, under local anaesthesia, minimising the potential of a prolonged healing recovery period. We are committed to your comfort and keep this in mind when performing dental surgery to extract wisdom teeth.

New dental technology helps detect decay!

A new and innovative invention can help dentists diagnose periodontal disease and tooth decay!

A unique dental technology has been created to assist dentists in diagnosing and treating periodontal (gum) disease and tooth decay by measuring the levels of bacteria in the mouth. The technology, labelled the ‘tooth tattoo’, adheres to a patient’s tooth temporarily in order to detect quantities of bacteria in the oral cavity. The sensor gives this information to the dentist so they can help to alter or create treatments to combat any excess bacteria.

Bacteria in the mouth could lead to more severe dental issues…

At Dental Clinic at World Tower in Sydney we are committed to the health of our patients, and want everyone to be aware of the possible detrimental effects neglecting your oral health can create. Poor oral health has been linked to issues such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory issues, dementia, Alzheimer’s and even cancer!

It is more important than ever to take care of your oral health…

We utilise high quality dental technology to help us examine and diagnose issues in the mouth. We recommend a regular routine check-up every six months for a comprehensive examination – where we scan your teeth and periodontal tissue condition thoroughly.

Receive the best in dental care with our dedicated, friendly and highly trained staff at our Sydney dental practice!

Poor Oral Health linked to Respiratory Issues

A recent study indicates link between the mouth and the lungs

There has always been a prominent link between the health of the mouth and the health of the body, with studies proving poor oral health causes a higher risk of disease such as Dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, heart disease and even diabetes.

Now a new connection has been discovered concerning poor oral health and the respiratory system. Recent research suggests that bacteria commonly found in the mouth and throat can sometimes migrate to the lower respiratory system, especially those with periodontal disease. This can cause inflammation or can aggravate issues already present, as well as creating a higher risk of pneumonia.

Prevention is the key…

That is why now more than ever it is imperative to take care of your oral health and with us at Dental Clinic @ World Tower we have compiled a short list of preventative steps that will help keep that nasty bacteria at bay:

  • Make sure you brush at least twice daily; we cannot stress how important this is for the health of your teeth and gums.
  • Brush at a 45 degree angle to ensure all surfaces of the teeth and gums are covered.
  • Floss at least once daily; this ensures bacteria is removed from crevices between teeth to prevent plaque and decay
  • See an oral health care professional every six months; this allows us to pick up any issues in their infancy before they become problematic

Keep your teeth and overall health for life with us at Dental Clinic @ World Tower in Sydney.

Composite Resin Fillings: The Healthy Choice for You and the Environment!

Traditional amalgam fillings are tough, rough and unsightly.

Many people choose to replace their amalgam fillings to avoid the negative side effects associated with this material:

  • Unlike our natural tooth material, amalgam expands and contracts in response to the temperature of food and beverages we consume. This process can cause fillings to crack and become loose, threatening the integrity of your natural tooth structure.
  • Traditional amalgam fillings are usually simply packed into the void, and not completely sealed. This means that bacteria and plaque can develop underneath the filling- leading to further tooth decay.
  • These fillings are not aesthetically pleasing as they are a dark metallic colour and do not blend with the colour of the natural tooth structure that surrounds it. In fact, amalgam fillings can actually stain your natural tooth enamel, creating an unsightly grey halo around your tooth.
  • Amalgam is comprised of an alloy containing 50% mercury, and this has been a cause for concern by certain people as they believe this mercury can leak into the mouth during chewing. Whilst the validity of these claims is uncertain, amalgam does pose an environmental risk as has been banned by environmentally conscious countries such as Denmark and Sweden.

Whilst studies are inconclusive about the serious health risks of amalgam fillings, certain people are more at risk and should consider removing their amalgam fillings.

Pregnant women should avoid amalgam fillings or exposure to any substances containing mercury (certain seafood etc.) as mercury can cross the placenta and enter the bloodstream of the foetus. Women may wish to replace their amalgam fillings with composite resin or porcelain fillings if they are considering starting a family. Women who are breastfeeding should choose amalgam free filling options as mercury can be passed onto the baby through breast milk.

Children are more susceptible to the mercury content in amalgam fillings as their growing and developing teeth are more sensitive to the effects of any chemical substances in the environment- including mercury.

People with kidney disease should also avoid amalgam fillings or consider replacing existing fillings with a mercury free option as mercury exposure can negatively affect kidney function.

These recommendations are for precautionary measures only, as there are currently no solid scientific findings linking amalgam fillings to serious health risks.

At our dental clinic located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, we offer contemporary filling materials such as composite resin and porcelain as a viable alternative to amalgam fillings.

The benefits of these modern filling materials include:

  • Completely safe and mercury free
  • Porcelain and composite resin fillings do not expand or contract in response to temperature changes in the mouth.
  • Our filling technique completely seals the void created by dental decay, protecting the tooth from further damage.
  • These types of filling materials are tooth coloured and can be colour matched to correlate with the exact colour of your natural tooth. This creates an aesthetically pleasing and seamless result.
  • Porcelain fillings have an advantage over composite fillings as they are a stronger filling material.

To find out more about the contemporary filling material we use in our Sydney dental clinic, or to book an appointment, please contact us.
